Jack Daniel’s has transformed its award-winning Heritage Barrel expression from a limited release into a permanent addition to its Single Barrel Collection, the distillery announced today.

The Tennessee whiskey maker will now offer the 100-proof expression year-round across the United States at a suggested retail price of $69.99, with international availability planned in coming months. The move follows successful limited releases in 2018 and 2019 that showcased the distillery’s experimental barrel toasting technique.

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Heritage Barrel Uses Traditional Toasting Method

The Heritage Barrel expression employs a high-toast, low-char technique inspired by early barrel-making traditions. This process creates a deeper toasted layer before the barrel receives its char, distinguishing it from standard Jack Daniel’s production methods.

The whiskey begins with Jack Daniel’s traditional mash bill of 80% corn, 12% malted barley, and 8% rye. After distillation, the spirit undergoes the brand’s signature mellowing process through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal. The whiskey enters Heritage Barrels at 100 proof rather than the standard higher proof, then ages for at least seven years in elevated barrel houses in Lynchburg, Tennessee.

“The way our barrels are built and our ability to experiment are two of the most important parts of the Jack Daniel’s whiskey-making tradition,” said Chris Fletcher, Master Distiller at the Jack Daniel Distillery. “It was exciting for us to see what our Heritage Barrels produced with previous limited releases, and we’re thrilled to bring that same unforgettable flavor to more friends with this permanent offering.”

Jack Daniel’s Heritage Barrel Delivers Rich Flavor Profile

According to official tasting notes, the Single Barrel Heritage Barrel Tennessee Whiskey presents a soft oak nose with warm honey and candied fruit notes on the palate. The finish lingers with brown sugar, reflecting the influence of the specialized toasting process.

Each barrel varies slightly in age due to the single barrel nature of the product, though all meet the minimum seven-year maturation requirement. The whiskey is bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV), maintaining the same proof at which it entered the barrel.

The permanent addition expands Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Collection, which includes various expressions showcasing different aspects of the distillery’s production capabilities. The Heritage Barrel release demonstrates how traditional techniques can create distinct flavor profiles within established whiskey categories.

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Heritage Barrel Tennessee Whiskey is now available in 750ml bottles throughout the United States.
