Big news today from Buffalo Trace Distillery…
Buffalo Trace Distillery is thrilled to confirm a new addition to its annual, highly-anticipated Antique Collection: E. H. Taylor Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon. Making its debut this fall as part of the 2025 BTAC Collection, this bottled-in-bond, 100-proof whiskey is a nod to E.H. Taylor’s pioneering influence on the bourbon industry. No age statement information has been revealed as of yet.
The highly-anticipated annual Buffalo Trace Antique Collection celebrates the Distillery’s historic bourbon brands and visionaries behind them, offering enthusiasts some of the rarest and most exceptional bourbons it produces. E.H. Taylor Bottled-in-Bond is first new addition to Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC) since Thomas H. Handy was added in 2006.
Highly-regarded as the “Father of Modern Bourbon’” and a founding father who helped define bourbon quality — not just for Buffalo Trace, but for the entire industry — it’s only fitting that Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr.’s namesake brand takes its place among the collection. In homage to his legacy, this new release bears his signature—just as every bottle produced under his watch did—signifying a continued commitment to the excellence he so fiercely championed.

“The Buffalo Trace Antique Collection was originally created to celebrate our legacy brands and the visionaries behind them, giving whiskey enthusiasts access to some of the rarest and most exceptional expressions from our distillery,” said Andrew Duncan, Global Brand Director, Buffalo Trace Distillery. “As a founding figure who helped define bourbon quality — not just for Buffalo Trace, but for the entire industry — it’s only fitting that Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr.’s namesake brand takes its place among the collection. With this release, we proudly pay tribute to Colonel Taylor’s enduring legacy of innovation and craftsmanship.”
After purchasing the distillery that he later christened as O.F.C. Distillery (now Buffalo Trace Distillery) in 1869, E.H. Taylor is celebrated for upgrading the Distillery with state-of-the-art grain equipment, copper fermentation tanks and a first-of-its-kind steam heating system still used in barrel warehouses in Buffalo Trace Distillery today, among other innovations. Beyond modernizing the facilities, Colonel Taylor played a pivotal role in the movement that led to the 1897 passage of the Bottled-in-Bond Act. As the first consumer protection law in the United States, this landmark achievement forever altered the standards and practices of whiskey production.
