Virginia Distillery Co. is expanding its Brewer’s Coalition series with a distinctive stout-finished American Single Malt whisky, launching this Valentine’s Day. The release features a partnership with North Carolina’s Foothills Brewing, utilizing barrels that previously held their Sexual Chocolate imperial stout.

The limited release comprises just twelve barrels, with the whisky aged over five years in ex-bourbon casks before finishing in the stout barrels. Bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV), the expression aims to showcase both distillery and brewery craftsmanship.

This Sexual Chocolate release marks another milestone in Virginia Distillery Co.’s mission to push boundaries within the American Single Malt category. The company has established a reputation for innovative cask finishing programs, particularly through its partnerships with craft breweries across the United States.

The brewery collaboration series demonstrates the distillery’s commitment to exploring how different beer barrel finishes can influence their base single malt whisky, creating unique flavor profiles that appeal to both whisky enthusiasts and craft beer fans.

Sexual Chocolate Stout Cask Finish American Single Malt 

According to the distillery, the whiskey showcases prominent aromas of rich cocoa, espresso, and toffee. On the palate, drinkers can expect to find notes of dark fruit, malted chocolate, and molasses, creating a complex flavor profile that reflects both the original whiskey and the influence of the Sexual Chocolate stout barrels.

The Foothills Brewing Sexual Chocolate Stout Cask Finish American Single Malt will be available through select retailers, online purchases, and the Virginia Distillery Co. Visitors Center.
