NOT LOOKING FOR ANY FORM OF VALUATION! Looking for as much information as possible about this bottle of whisky, if anyone has any. Plenty of Google searching has yielded almost no great info. Whilst it states ”product of Wales’ on the front label, I don’t believe there was the same level of legal protection for this in the 80’s as we have today. The bottle was bought in 1986. (There is -as far as I’m aware – no legal protection for the term ‘single vatted malt’ either) My best guess is that the ‘distillery’ in Wales where this was ‘produced’ bought a barrel from Scotland or Ireland, and it was essentially designed for tourists and maybe festive gifts. The only reason behind this thought is that the now world renowned Penderyn whisky which was initially released in 2004 made a big deal about the fact they were the first Welsh whisky distillery producing whisky in over a century. I also feel like the wording ‘bottled and vatted by the Welsh whisky co’ is very deliberate. Hopefully someone can shed a little light on the history of this. submitted by /u/j3ff5ter |
