Master blender Dixon Dedman and 2XO Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey are celebrating the intersection of music and whiskey with their newest limited release, The Vinyl Blend. The expression marks the sixth installment in 2XO’s Icon Series of small-batch limited releases.

A Tribute to Music and Whiskey

The Vinyl Blend draws inspiration from Dedman’s personal connection to music, particularly the ritual of enjoying bourbon while listening to vinyl records.

The release exemplifies 2XO’s signature approach to bourbon-making, with “Two Times Oak” referring to Dedman’s method of additional oak exposure that enhances sweetness and balances spice notes from rye-forward mash bills.

2XO The Vinyl Blend Composition & Tasting Notes 

The Vinyl Blend features a sophisticated composition built from two proprietary mash bills: a high-rye bourbon (35% rye) and a moderate-rye bourbon (18% rye).

The blend’s complexity comes from Dedman’s unique approach of double-barreling 40% of the final product—specifically the high-rye portion—in new #4 charred oak barrels for 9-12 months. The remaining 60% is evenly split between the original high-rye and moderate-rye bourbon mash bills.

Tasting notes for The Vinyl Blend include honeysuckle, vanilla crème brûlée, and grilled pineapple, concluding with what the brand describes as a “long viscous, peppery finish.”

The new release joins an award-winning lineup of previous 2XO expressions, including American Oak, The Kiawah Blend, and Gem of Kentucky.
